Joachim Knoph

Pianist Joachim Knoph is an active soloist and chamber musician who has performed in a number of countries. He has collaborated with prominent musicians and singers and is the recipient of several prizes including the Yamaha Music Foundation award.
  In 2016, he released an internationally dis­tributed solo CD of Johan Kvandal’s com­plete music for solo piano on the Grand Piano/Naxos label, receiving very favourable reviews. He has also previously been a solo­ist on CD recordings with the Norwegian Ra­dio Orchestra, and has premiered a number of new works.
  In addition, Joachim Knoph’s activity as a composer has become increasingly high-yielding, with his choral music especially being frequently performed in recent years.
  Knoph is a graduate of the Norwegian Acad­emy of Music, the Barratt Due Institute of Music, the Malmö Academy of Music, L’École Normale de Musique “Alfred Cortot” in Paris, as well as a study period at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He has studied with Einar Steen-Nøkleberg, Jirí Hlìnka, Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri, Caroline Palmer and others. He received his first tu­ition from Helene Jensen, Wolfgang Plagge and Jens Harald Bratlie. He has partici­pated in a number of masterclasses, includ­ing those with Philippe Entremont, Jerome Lowenthal and Staffan Scheja.
